Day 231 - PJ's for my big boy.

Happy Monday!

Christmas is less than 2 months away now and I want to make some gifts, so I thought I'd get started. I'm going to make PJ' for my kids and 2 of my nephews so this is the first pair. These are for my eldest son Liam. Unfortunately as these are all gifts my usual models will not be diplaying the finished products. Sorry for that.

I found this skeleton silky fabric at the op shop a few weeks ago for $1. It fits in quite nicely with the pirate theme I inadvertently have going. Aye!

I think I can make 2 pairs of PJ bottoms with the fabric that is there. I have also bought a heap of plain coloured tshirts for $3 at Kmart which will form the basis of the PJ tops.

Liam's favourite colour is yellow so he has a yellow shirt, and I just sewed on one of the images from the potato stamped fabric that I also used for the pirate loot bag.

And here are the finished PJs. Fit for a pirate captain me thinks! If you disagree you're nothing but a scurvy dog!

Day 221 - Pirate Loot Bag

You may remember a month or so ago I made a potato stamp and stamped some fabric Day-188-potato-stamping-on-fabric. Today I used the fabric I stamped to make a loot bag for one of my little pirates.

I simply overlocked (serged) the three sides of the bag and then made a casing for a drawstring. I left the casing open at both sides so the string can be pulled from each side.

Aaaargh!!! Another pirate post to be sure.

Day 126 - Pirate Bubba Shorts

We are going to Thailand in a month or so and my 8 month old has doubled in size since we had warm weather so I thought I'd make him a few pairs of shorts for the trip. Given the pirate lovers in our house some pirate shorts had to be the first project. Baby shorts are so quick and easy to make and you hardly need any fabric for a one of a kind look. How cute is this little pirate?

Day 113 - Birthdays

Birthdays are such a special time for children, but since I became a Mum I've also realised how very special they are for parents. I love the ritual of making a birthday cake the night before, and reflecting on the lives of my 'little people' and how much I have been able to learn from them already. I always get a bit emotional the night before one of my kids is turning a year older, and last night was no exception.

We rarely buy wrapping paper in our house so today's craft is wrapping related. We wrapped the presents with plain white craft paper that we have a huge roll of, and then I made some potato stamps to decorate the paper. I made a card for the birthday boy in the shape of a paper hat, decorated with pirate stamps. Then I added a little flag using a toothpick and some paper.

Then Miss Juliet wanted a pirate hat too, so I showed her how to make one, and she added her usual level of bling to it.

Lastly, here's a naughty breakfast muffin. Well, it's only once a year.

Day 16 - My son is a Pirate School Graduate

It's been a year since my 7 year old son Liam and I went to pirate school for the day down at the Pollywoodside in Melbourne (http://www.pollywoodside.com.au/). We had such a brilliant time at pirate school and imagine a mother's pride at knowing her son is now a fully fledged pirate? It seemed only fitting that we commemorate a year since this glorious day. And what 7 year old boy doesn't need a pair of pirate shorts?
