Day 80 - More PJ's - 1m of fleece keeps going.

The fleece got further use today with some pj's for the baby of the family.

I tie dyed this top when my now 7 year old was a baby and it has been worn by all my kids and possibly one of two more kids over the years. I love clothes like that when each time a new bub wears them memories of the others come flooding in.

It had a bit of a stain on the front so it was perfect for this project.

I cut one of the monsters out and appliqued it onto the top and made these super quick pants to wear with it. The whole thing from start to finish only took about half an hour.

Day 79 - My last little girl's skirt from this quilt and owl pants.

I will get back to my metre of fleece tomorrow but I have some special visitors coming tomorrow from Adelaide and I wanted to make a little gift for one of them. I can't wait to see them.

I have made two things. First is the last quilt skirt I will be making from the vintage chenille quilt that I have made quite a few skirts from. I have given the rest to someone else to make some creations from and give it new life. :)

This skirt has some flowers and dots sewn on from pink corduroy scraps and scraps of another pale blue chenille bedspread.

I also visited a church charity shop this morning and was extremely excited to find another chenille bedspread in fantastic condition in a camel brown colour that will be perfect for little boys clothes. I couldn't believe my luck after looking for over a year and just giving away the other one a week ago. I was obviously meant to give the other one away. It was only $4.50 and is really thick and warm for winter. Expect to see it as part of a creation or three very soon.

The second is a pair of red cords with a little owl friend on a branch.

Day 78 - 2nd project from a metre of fleece - Monster snuggle pillow

This is the second use for the metre of polar fleece I used yesterday. It's so soft it seemed perfect for a little pillow. I stuffed it with stuffing from an old and huge pregnancy pillow which I also used on day 65 for my owl pillow. Then I used some colourful felt scraps I had in the cupboard to make his face.

I think the little man I made it for is pretty happy with it too.

Day 77 - Pj's - Fleece

My 7 year old son came shopping with me to spotlight about a month or more ago and he chose this gorgeously soft and warm fleece for me to make some winter PJ's for him. That's what I was up to this morning.

I purchased a metre of this fabric for about $6 and there is still a bit left over so for this week I will keep making things from the fleece until the whole metre is completely gone. It's 150cm wide. I wonder what else I can make with it? It's so soft and snugly and perfect for the gloomy days that are becoming more regular.

The gorgeous boy is pictured below snuggled in front of the fire with his cosy new pyjamas on.

Day 76 - more kids stuff

It's been a pretty quiet day here - and about time too. I've just been hanging out with the kids. They had auskick this morning and were doing some quiet activities this afternoon.

Here are a couple of crafty things we did.

First of all - a paper bag catwalk. There was a fashion parade of their own creations by Jules and Aidan. One is a large post bag and the other a gift bag.

Next we worked on this poster for Juliet - she is going to be student of the week the week after next so we needed to make a poster about her. She did a fabulous job of all the writing and decorating herself. Awesome stuff!

Day 75 - Kids Stuff

Hello! Today I spent 7 hours at a market selling off some kids stuff to get rid of some of the clutter around here. I was so exhausted when I got home that my creative brain could only manage to get others going on their craft pursuits. I put the kids into action, gave them some direction, and this is what they came up with. Basically, I got them to do all my work for me.

There's the princess crafts, manly beads and a found objects collage on drawing.

Day 74 - Drawstring bags

I'm very busy getting everything ready for a stall I'm having at a baby and kids market this weekend. I'm just selling off a bit of 'garage sale' type stuff but I can't believe how much work there has been in sorting it out and washing and cleaning it. I'll be glad when it's over. Between a baby and the kids and the dogs there has been a lot of sleep disruptions this week too!

Anyway today is a super simple and quick one. I have just made a couple of drawstring bags. You can make them in any size to use up leftover fabric and you don't need any special sewing skills. I sometimes make little ones for party treat bags and just use the overlocker instead of the sewing machine. You can see I used lace instead of string for the larger bag.

They are handy for storing things in - and really good for those toys with lots of little parts that tend to end up all around the house.
