The 365 Day Challenge

My goal is to create something every day using something from my craft cupboard. I am a self-confessed fabric addict and just love to fossick through thrift shops and find treasures.

So here goes. Live, love, recycle and get crafting.

Day 242 - Bath mat trousers

Before I share today's craft I want to share with you what my 5 (almost 6) year old daughter did this week when I went to Melbourne for the Coldplay concert. As she is one of my frequent models on the blog you may notice something odd going on with her hair.

Here's what she did to it when she was supposed to be going to sleep the other night.

She did this with some small school scissors, cutting a little and liking the shaved feel, she kept going. She's a trouble maker this one! Now she is bald at the front for about 5cm :-/.

Sadly there is nothing the hairdresser can do for us. So here's my solution for the foreseeable future. We are looking at a fair bit of time for her hair to recover.

So today the little rascal got another of my creations. Last weekend I found this chenille bathmat / baby mat at the thrift shop for $2. It's got a little bit of patchwork and I knew Juliet would love it. My love for vintage chenille is well documented I think, and things made out of it sell for an absolute fortune at craft markets.

It was double thickness, so I cut three of the sides and opened it up.

Then cut some 3/4 pants pieces and a pocket choosing my favourite sections of fabric for the front of the pants. I took the size from one of the the other pair of pants I had made for her earlier.

It they came out looking pretty cute!

And here are the boys getting in the act too.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!
