Day 271 - Vintage Maxi Dress Refashion

A party for Ms Juliet this morning. Her first real party and what a happy girl she was.

Some pics here with her requested rainbow cake.

Then onto some refashioning for me. I picked up this vintage maxi dress a couple of weeks ago from a vintage pop up shop where a woman was selling off her vintage clothes collection. I love the colours and the fit was lovely.

The long sleeves and high neckline were a bit too severe for me so I decided to make small capped sleeves and lower the neckline a little.

The sleeves came in handy for a wine wrapper and a vase sock. Wouldn't want to waste that awesome fabric.

  2. Happy Birthday, Miss Juliet! I'm so glad you had a party, and that you enjoyed the party, and that you had that gorgous cake!!! That's got to be the prettiest cake ever, right? All those pretty colors...WOW!!!

I love the dress, too, and definitely love the way you changed the sleeves and neckline. Clever way to use up the leftover material, as well.

  3. Thanks op shop mama ;-) It's a very cool dress. Won't see another like it around here.

Joyce, lots of food dye went into that cake! I love making the kids cakes but this felt weird because her birthday isn't until after Christmas so I'm still in Christmas mode. (And I do get a bit sentimental when making the cakes - unusual for me I know) I'll have to do another for her actual day but it was lovely for her to have a party with the great group of friends she has made this year.
